Peter Mitchell Elissa Barron

Peter was born in North Bay, Ontario, the middle child of nine kids, seven of them whom still sing, play and perform today.  A First Nation Algonquin Indian, Peter takes pride in his heritage. His father is from the Eagle Village First Nations and is the biggest music lover on the planet. He plays music around the house seven days a week.

Peter started his music career at the age of fifteen, playing open mics in back street bars and halls, but took a long break before returning to the music scene back in 2001. He headed to the USA for a 5-year period, and played nightclubs, Tiki Bars, concert halls, and some live radio shows. Peter also became a talent scout for a Sarasota record label and managed various artists. Pete has always written music, both for himself and other artists.

Recently Peter began wondering if a writing partner would be a helpful asset-- and one night in 2009, stopping in on an open mic to check out local talent, Peter met a singer/writer from Guelph Ontario, Canada by the name of Elissa Barron.  And so Mitch & the Barroness  was born.

Elissa grew up in southern Ontario, a quiet kid who dreamed of being a singer. Being painfully shy, singing was just that -- a dream. As a teen, Elissa discovered a gift for theatre, and spent several years as an actor, playwrite, puppet builder, puppeteer and costumer. Through it all, and despite growing confidence garnered by being on the stage, singing continued to be somewhat out of reach.

Over the years the dream remained. Looking for some place to sing, Elissa stopped in at a jam in Mill Bay, BC, where by chance she met a fellow named Pete Mitchell. He played -- she sang, and it was good enough that they agreed to meet again. By the end of the week, they were writing and recording original music.

It's taken her some time to forget those shy roots, but Elissa is catching on fast. Singing is getting easier every day, and Elissa is excited to be chasing down that old dream. However, the writing -- especially in collaboration with Peter Mitchell -- has proven to be a gift she never expected.
